Big Wins this week.

#WeekInJustice: Week 173

We had some significant wins this week. The Arizona Supreme Court extended Reproductive Healthcare until at least August, leaving our team the opportunity and time to litigate further on the issue. We are still hopeful that the people of Arizona will have the final say this November.

Other wins include the conviction of Gerardo Barraza-Salinas. This was a horrific murder case that took a lot of hard work from the tireless efforts of prosecutors Brad Terrace and Ryan Gant, PCAO staff including Victim Services and our Detective’s Bureau along with Tucson Police. You can see our social media post on it here.

The other was a guilty verdict for second-degree vehicular murder case against Sergio Oliveros led by prosecutor Donald Porterfield. Oliveros was driving with meth in his system at 83 mph in a 40 mph zone and collided with another car killing the driver.

The Murad Dervish trial is expected to wrap up next week. Mark Hotchkiss and Haley Weigold are continuing to do fantastic work on the case.

The latest episode of The People’s Office Podcast is out with Laura talking to women who are making their mark in Pima County. You can watch it on our YouTube channel or listen online.

Be Well.
