#WeekInJustice: Week 172

Sometimes the entire Weekly happens in a single day.

Here’s what I mean:

Just yesterday, alone, the following occurred:

  1. In our Criminal Division, trial proceeded smoothly in State v. Dervish, allowing the State to rest its case today.
    1. Not only does this involve the prosecution team, but our Detectives Division was hard at work securing out of State witnesses, and
    2. Victim Services is fully involved in not only this case, but in two other high-profile trials occurring simultaneously.
  2. In our Civil Division, we filed another brief with the Arizona Supreme Court, arguing that the Court should stay its mandate (ruling) in the reproductive health case, allowing the legislative repeal of the 1864 law to take effect first.
    1. The briefs can be read here.
  3. And, our Senior Leadership assisted in my request to our fellow border County Attorneys to issue a bipartisan statement against HCR2060 which would bring back SB1070 from the dead, as a bad policy for public safety.
    1. You can find that statement here:
